I won the Liebster Blog Award!!!!

The LIEBSTER BLOG AWARD is used to show appreciation of smaller blogs (under 200 followers) and to help spread readership and joy.
As part of the tradition the award is to be passed along to five other blogs that have motivated and inspired me.
It comes from the German meaning Dearest or Beloved, but can also mean Favourite.

To accept the Award you must:
1. Link back to the persons blog who gave it to you, and thank them.
2. Post on your blog.
3. Give to five other Bloggers who you appreciate and value.
4. Leave a comment on the five blogs you choose and let them know.

Now comes the hard part. It is very hard to choose just five, but the ladies that I have chosen, are very talented, and I do believe that they most certainly deserve more followers:

I do hope that you will all accept this award, and pass it on too.
Many thanks once again http://craftin-dawn.blogspot.com/  for nominating me.

Oh MY!!  So many great sites, it is so hard to choose.. I am leaving today for a cruise and I should have had myself packed already, I am so caught up in this excitement and SO grateful to Craftin Dawn.. However, I will have to finish up later since I am pressed for time...Have a great weekend, ladies !

Sailing today!

Hi everyone!

It's been such a crazy week.  My dear, sweet, husband is taking me on a cruise to celebrate my 50TH! birthday!  We also just celebrated our 1st. anniversary.
I want to say it's traumatic, but honestly, it's not.  I am at a great place in my life.  Very happily married, running a successful business for almost 30 years.  I have the best and the best looking clients in the world (I own a hair salon in New Jersey)  I have great friends, a family with lots of cousins that I love dearly and my new extended family is awesome.  Life is good!

Chocolate makes your Knickers Shrink

This fun image I found at Charmedcards&Crafts.  Another great site from the UK.
I colored it using copic, and/or pro markers.  Also, gold nail polish with the skinny nail art brush on the hanger.  The adorable sentiment was also a freebie too.  I found this a while ago and I think that in order to  get the freebies you have to have something in your cart, but they have so many cute digi stamps you will want to make a purchase.
The paper is from DCWV glitter mat stack.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to frame the image and the pretty ribbon, I found in Michaels $ bin.

"Old friends never go out of style"

Hi Everyone.. I am finally catching on about how this whole blogging thing works (I Hope!)  I finally figured out how to link to challenges and what "back linking" means.  I now know to look at the date of my posts and compare the dates of the challenges so that I can play by "the rules"  (still not sure why that is so important)
I tend to make my cards by something that inspires me.  It could be a new image I bought or received.  It could be some pretty papers or necessity like a birthday or holiday.  So I tend to make my cards first, then look for challenges to enter.  So I have learned not to post all my work too early.  However with the big FIVE OH approaching soon, I am afraid I will forget to post what I have been saving up in Picasa and other photo editing programs..
So here is one of my Valentine/Love/Heart cards that I made for a special friend.
It is a Bugaboo image.  I think her name is Stella...(another thing I have learned - the importance of cataloging everything as I save it in order to give credit where it is due)
I colored her using copics and pro markers.  I used a pre made 5 x 7 red base card that I ran through the swiss dots cuttlebug folder.  The matting papers are from a Michaels'  "special"  bag of...... essentially -  scraps  (never do that again, I make enough of my own!  and I am sorry to say,  that I did not keep the packaging that the stamp set came in, but it is a cute set with "girly" types of sentiments that I find appropriate for friends and relatives.
So...now for the challenges that I am entering:

From the Heart

I wish I knew where this stamp came from because I think it is just so cool...I'm sending this to my pre teen niece.  I think I got it from Freedigitalstamps.com  She generously shares everyday and finds some really great images.  If anyone knows exactly where it came from, i'd appreciate knowing so I can give much deserved credit.
I colored her using copic and pro markers.  The backing paper is from K & company.  The metalic hearts are probably from $ store or Walmart.  I got a bunch of it to use to make napkin rings.  I'll try to take a pic and post when they are done.  I blinged it up a bit with some heart charms that I had in my stash.  The purple card is a 5 inch square that came pre packaged in the Michaels Dollar bins.  It's a bit flimsy and the envelops are tight, but I liked the color.
I am entering the following challenges:

warm winter wishes

My new addiction is easel cards.  They are such fun to make and a practical way to show off your art work.  They stand up freely and neatly.  Everyone I sent them to is using it as a table or desk decoration.
This cute image was one of the first digi "freebies" I ever saved and unfortunately, at the time, I didn't realize the importance of saving them and cataloging where I found it.  I want to say "Freedigitalstamps.com"  She generously shares so many images daily that she finds all over and has introduced me to so many great sites.
I did color her using copics and pro markers. I love copics for skin tones and blendability, but I also love the pro markers for their colors and ease of layering the shading.. I am just learning how to color and am so inspired by so many truly great artists out there.  I think I favor the lovely ladies in the UK.. I just like their style and have learned so much from them.  Christina at cardmakingmagic.com is one of my favorites.  She does wonderful videos and tutorials with amazing folds and creative ways to use spellbinders and other dry embossing/cutting folders.  Deb Jennett at Frecklesplace.blogspot.com is another favorite.  Her designs are so fresh and cheerful.    There are so many and I thank you all.

This image came from Dudetime Doodles...A great site to find really interesting and fun images for masculine cards..They are whimsical and well done.

I colored, using pro markers and copics.  I cut the oval shapes with  the spellbinders in the cuttlebug.  I embossed the front of the card with a provo craft folder that accompanied the Happy Hauntings cartridge.  I also used that cart to cut the frame .  The lips are a removable, jelly-ish window cling that I found at a local dollar store.  Inside - I used some scraps left over from halloween with skeletons and skulls.  I embossed the heart and found the digi "kisss" from Freedigitalstamps.com.  The Happy Valentine stamp came from Michaels.

The Secret to staying Young

Posted by PicasaThis is another easel  card using the Justinklined.com Stamps.. I love the images from the UK.. They are so whimsical and fun.  I colored her using pro markers and copics.  The Sentiment is a quote from Lucille Ball that says "The secret to staying young is to Live honestly, eat slowly and Lie about your age"!  and I think I found that at a wonderful site called The Sherlock's home.
I used paper from a set that I got at Walmart, I think it is from studio g.  I used scraps that I ran through the cuttlebug swiss dots  and circles folders.  I cut her frame with a nestabilities using left over metalic card stock from DCWV.  I created the heart shape behind her by cutting two ovals, embossing them in the cuttlebut and gluing them together in the center.  The ribbon was from Michaels $ bin.  This one was a lot of fun and I was inspired by http://debsatfrecklesplace.blogspot.com/  ..She does such beautiful work and I have found so many other interesting and friendly sites by following her.
